Heather Marie Muir has been a writer since the age of seven when she wrote her first book “Katrina Saves the Rainforest.” She then spent the rest of her time in elementary school writing and illustrating stories about unicorns, which remain a dear love of hers today.

When she entered middle school, awkwardly tall and introverted, Heather discovered fan fiction and began to write with a passion. Her fan fiction stories (inspired by The Legend of Zelda and Harry Potter, respectively) can still be found on the internet under a ridiculous pseudonym. Heather hopes you never find them. Truly.

Heather continued to write original stories of her own through high school and on into college. She graduated from the University of Utah in 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in English with a Creative Writing emphasis. It was at that university that she decided to finally take writing seriously, prompted by the praise of her graduate student teachers and her own dream to make a living from her writing.

Before graduating, Heather was accepted into Orson Scott Card’s Literary Bootcamp, which was held at Utah Valley University for one week at the end of June to the beginning of July in 2010. This experience severely damaged Heather emotionally but also enlightened her and gave her direction in her writing life. She cannot thank Uncle Orson enough for his stinging words of praise.

After camp, Heather completed her first original novel-length work during a grueling session of National Novel Writing Month in November of 2010. Her winner’s certificate from NaNoWriMo hangs next to her Bachelors Degree on her bedroom wall.

Heather finished her second novel, “My Haunted Life,” just in time to recover for NaNoWriMo 2011, another success. For those counting ie her mother, that makes three novels in thirteen months. While the second novel is out with a few Alpha readers, she is letting it sit in a dusty drawer. She is hoping to find it either a publisher or a grave. She still cannot decide which.

Heather thanks you for your interest in her by clicking on the About page of this blog but she is tired of writing in the third person and must go knit some wrist-warmers. She only has four pairs at the moment and that simply is too few for any writer who knits.
